New Beginnings! Sunday Night at the Sawmill
It isn’t often that you get a do over or the chance to clear the slate and sort of start over but that is the case with my website.
I started my business when my daughter started college and she is now seeing her advisor to set up her last semester as an undergrad. So my business is three and a half years in the making. I’ve tried to follow where the business wanted to go instead of pushing it and molding it into what I thought it should be. I’m glad I did it that way. No pressure, no stress! One of the first things I did when beginning the biz was putting together a website. I had hired someone that sort of fell into my path and I love the site but it just never felt like home to me or my biz. So I’ve take the time time to clean things up and remove all of the old pictures and posts. What’s left but a blank slate to rebuild. A bit bare bones at the moment but I’m thinking of that in a positive way. More room to build on and add all sorts of new content.
As my business is growing I’m coming across some great people and companies that I’m proud to call my friends. This is the place where I will explore my friendships with all of these different people and companies.
Over the past week I’ve agonized over what pictures to post along with my first blog post but I’m going to stay true to the “fly by the seat of my pants” way I’ve run the business. I’m not posting any new pictures tonight. I’m going to just write from my heart and without stress or pressure post what I feel should be next or relevant to that week.
That said I will give you a little taste of what is to come…
I have two companies that I have become friends with that I will be showing off their products. I currently use their products heavily and swear by them as I’ve had to up the quality of the materials that I’m using. One is PillowCubes who I use for pillow inserts and stuffing for my amigurumi. (What an amazing selection!) The other is DMC Company, the embroidery floss people! (And they are so much more than just floss!)
Although I still spend the majority of my time prepping for class and teaching I’m going to be a bit more selective in the classes I teach. I am going to be stepping into more of a design role. It is finally time for me to be able to flex my creative fingers a bit more with some original designs and ideas. This part excites me so much. I have so many great ideas rattling around in my head!
So I’ve gotten the monumental task of writing my first new blog post! Whew I was beginning to think I had permanent writers block. I finally got past my design block that has been bothering my the last few weeks. But I think sometime when you think about it too much it just makes it worse. Better to walk away and try when the moment feels right.
Sunday Night at the Sawmill feels right. I’m able to recap the work I’ve done and tell you all the good stuff that is coming. Lots of good stuff is coming. For those of you that know me I’ve been absent from social media the last few weeks. I’m saving up all of the good stuff to start posting on a weekly basis and here on the blog.
Welcome to Sunday Night at the Sawmill!
P.S. Don’t forget to check my events page if you want to catch one of my classes!
